Why do Opaque Objects Have Color?
When white light hits an opaque object, it will absorb most of the light, except for certain colors, which are reflected. The color you see is the color the object has reflected. So if you see an object that is red, the colored light inside of the object is every color but red, and you are just seeing the red that was reflected. For black, you are not seeing any colors, so all the colors are inside the object, and for white objects, you are seeing all the colors at once, and the object itself has no colors contained in it.
